Why do women tend to take relationships and people more seriously than men?

I see men all the time in their late 20s who have never had an official girlfriend or many friends in general and they seem to be doing fine life....women on the other hand go 6 months without a man or close friends and they start to self-destruct. Does it go back to the saying men are logical and women are emotional? Most guy I know who are loners or take a passive stance towards women and people in general say that most relationships fail and/or screw you over over time so why bother? Is that itself logical?
