What kind of organizations can you join if you want to help the world and people less fortunate?

let me start by saying i am a felon. i know some of these organizations dont except felons. i just want to help. Whether that by in a third world country or down south in joplin missouri. i am tired of watching everyone including myself take for granted all the little things in life. i am 22 years old and even i can tell this new generation is a self destructing one. if anyone out there knows of any organization that would accept someone like me please let me know!... thank you!
